Getting started

What is Kinship?

Kinship is an AI-powered messaging assistant. It drafts replies and messages for you — in your tone, for your relationship with that person. Available as an iOS app (with an iMessage extension) and a Chrome extension for Gmail and other web-based email.

How do I install the iMessage extension?

Download the Kinship app from the App Store. Open a conversation in iMessage, tap the Apps icon (the four-dot grid next to the text field), then swipe to find Kinship. Tap it to open the extension. You only need to do this setup once.

How do I install the Chrome extension?

Search "Kinship" in the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome. Once installed, click the Kinship icon in your toolbar whenever you're composing an email or message in the browser.

How many free messages do I get?

Every account gets 10 free AI messages per month, automatically. Your count resets on the 1st of each month. No credit card required for the free tier.

What's included in Kinship Pro?

Pro unlocks unlimited AI messages, all 11 tone options plus a custom tone, translation into 9 languages, and voice input. Available for iOS ($2.99/mo), or as an iOS + Chrome bundle ($4.99/mo). See the full pricing page →

How do I upgrade to Pro?

In the iOS app, tap any locked feature or go to Settings → Upgrade to Pro. In the Chrome extension, click the upgrade banner. iOS billing goes through your Apple ID; Chrome billing through Stripe.

How do I cancel my subscription?

iOS: Open Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Tap Kinship and select Cancel Subscription. You'll keep Pro access until the end of your current billing period.

Chrome / Bundle: Email support@kinshipapps.com with your email address and we'll cancel immediately. You'll keep access until the period ends.

Can I get a refund?

Yes — we offer a 14-day refund for new Pro subscribers.

iOS: Refunds go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Select the Kinship charge and request a refund.

Chrome / Bundle: Email support@kinshipapps.com and we'll process your refund within 2 business days.

I upgraded but the app still shows me as Free. What do I do?

Close and reopen the app — this refreshes your subscription status from our server. If it still shows Free after 5 minutes, email support@kinshipapps.com with your Apple ID or the email used at checkout and we'll fix it manually.

Privacy & data

Does Kinship store my messages?

Message text is sent to our AI (Anthropic Claude) to generate drafts and is not stored permanently on our servers after the session ends. We store your contact relationship labels and usage counts — never the actual content of your conversations. See our Privacy Policy →

Does Kinship read my iMessages?

No. Kinship only processes the message text you manually paste or type into the extension. It does not have access to your message history, contacts list, or any part of the Messages app beyond what you explicitly share.

How do I request deletion of my data?

Email support@kinshipapps.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request" and we'll permanently delete your account data within 30 days, as required by GDPR and CCPA.
