Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 5, 2026 · Grit Real Estate LLC, doing business as Kinship
1. Overview
Kinship ("we", "us", "our") is an AI-powered messaging assistant operated by Grit Real Estate LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect when you use the Kinship iOS app, iMessage extension, or Chrome extension ("the Service"), how we use that data, and your rights regarding it.
By using Kinship, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.
2. Information We Collect
a) Account identifier
Kinship does not require you to create an account with a username or password. Instead, we generate an anonymous user key stored locally on your device and sent with API requests solely to associate your subscription status and usage count.
b) Message content
When you request AI-generated drafts, the message text you enter (or paste) is transmitted to our backend and forwarded to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. This content is used only to generate your drafts and is not stored permanently on our servers after the request is complete.
c) Contact relationship labels
If you create contacts in the iOS app, we store the name, relationship type (e.g., "Friend", "Colleague"), preferred channel, and any optional context note you provide. We do not sync or read your device contacts without your explicit action.
d) Usage data
We record the number of AI-message requests you make each month to enforce the free tier limit (10 messages/month) and verify Pro subscription entitlements. We also maintain anonymous usage logs (e.g., "generate_drafts action performed") for product analytics. These logs do not contain message content.
e) Subscription and payment data
iOS subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. Chrome subscriptions are handled by Stripe. We receive confirmation of your subscription status (active/inactive) but never store your payment card details.
f) Device and technical data
Standard server logs may capture your IP address, device type, and timestamps. This information is used for security, debugging, and infrastructure purposes and is not linked to your identity.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To generate AI-drafted messages on your behalf
- To enforce free-tier limits and validate Pro subscription status
- To provide customer support when you contact us
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or misuse of the Service
- To improve product features based on aggregate, anonymized usage patterns
- To comply with applicable laws and legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your message content to train AI models.
4. Third-Party Services
- Anthropic (Claude API) — processes message text to generate drafts. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to data sent to their API: anthropic.com/privacy

Each of these providers has their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account identifier, contact labels, and usage counts for as long as you use the Service. If you request deletion, we will remove all personal data within 30 days.
Message content sent for AI processing is not retained beyond the duration of your request. Server access logs are typically purged within 90 days.
6. Children's Privacy
Kinship is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@kinshipapps.com and we will delete it promptly.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights under GDPR, CCPA, or other applicable law:

- Correction — request that inaccurate data be corrected
- Deletion — request that we delete your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
- Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
- Opt-out of sale — we do not sell personal data, so this right is already satisfied
- Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw at any time by discontinuing use or contacting us
To exercise any of these rights, email support@kinshipapps.com with the subject "Privacy Request" and we will respond within 30 days.
8. Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption in transit and access controls on our backend. However, no system is completely secure. If you have concerns about the security of your data, please contact us immediately.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective date" at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will notify you via in-app notice or email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
